1. Send your pre-loved and read books on a journey around the world to make new friends and touch other people’s lives – check out the bookcrossing site for a free and inspired way of getting connected with others through the power of imagination and literature.
2. Start a blog. Everyone has something interesting to say so say it, and become part of the blogosphere. Make friends and influence people on the web.
3. Join a club. Whether it’s a knitting class, a book club or a yoga class – look for a local class or club doing something that interests you and just do it. You’ll feel pleased with yourself for bothering and might just learn a thing or two and meet a new like-minded friend.
4. Bite the bullet. Whatever it is you’ve been putting off, don’t. Just do it. Get a bit of courage and do whatever it is you’ve been waiting to do. Faint heart never won fair lady (or man for that matter).
5. Start a ‘common place’ book. For all those ideas, nuggets of inspiration, dreams, anecdotes and inspirational quotes – keep a common place book close at hand and write in it regularly. Then read and re-read it when in need of a little motivation or inspiration. Insert pictures, write in any order, this is your book to kick-start your imagination and new adventures.
