Sowing the seeds of love – what to plant in October

Twine marks my planted seeds

Our latest visit to the allotment has resulted in the sowing of spring greens, onions, garlic and broad beans. I have been frantically trying to find out what I can plant at this time of year, being October and out of season. So, these were a few contenders I had available in my seed box. I planted the spring greens, onions and garlic together in one bed and broad beans in what will be my legume bed. Only the spring greens, ironically, will be potentially ready to harvest this side of Christmas.

The others will lie dormant underground waiting for next Spring. How exciting!  At least something must burst forth from the earth…. so long as the frost or bind weed don’t get their claws into my little seedlings.
